Menopause marks a new chapter, not the end of the book.
It's a phase that opens up the opportunity to prioritise yourself, explore new activities, and embrace a healthier lifestyle. Personally, I discovered that exercise became my greatest ally during my menopause journey. It was so transformative that I became a certified instructor to help others experience the same benefits.
When I first considered ramping up my fitness routine, I encountered some scepticism. An older lady, well into her 70s, cautioned me against exercising, warning that I might sprain my ankle.
Her advice was potentially well-meaning, but my response was simple: I could just as easily sprain my ankle stepping off a curb while shopping! The truth is there’s no better time to focus on staying active. Exercise is crucial for maintaining health and vitality, especially as we age.
In addition to my menopause-focused coaching, I run several fitness classes, including a chair-based class designed for older adults. My participants, aged from their 60s to their mid-90s, face various health challenges such as Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, muscular dystrophy, heart conditions, Alzheimer’s, and Neuropathy. Some use frames or sticks for support, yet they show up every week, ready to engage and improve their wellbeing.
The benefits of exercise as we age are numerous. Regular physical activity helps manage chronic conditions, improves mobility and balance, and enhances mental health. It’s not about lifting heavy weights or running marathons; it’s about moving your body in ways that feel good and are sustainable. My sessions are tailored to meet you where you are, whether you’re agile and active or need modifications and support.
You don’t need a full gym to get started. We can utilise resistance bands, your body weight, or even everyday household items to create a challenging and effective workout. And if distance is an issue, no worries—we can connect online and make sure you get the support and instruction you need right from the comfort of your home.
Menopause is a time to refocus on you. By embracing exercise and making it a part of your daily routine, you can navigate this phase with strength and confidence.
If you’re ready to take the next step, message me for more details on how we can work together to make your menopause journey a healthy and fulfilling one.
