Let’s Talk Bladder Weakness in Menopause (Yes, It’s a Thing!)

I’m sharing this because I’ve been there.
In my late 40s/early 50s, I suddenly found myself rushing to the loo all the time. Nights were the worst; I’d stop drinking anything after 9pm just to try and make it through till morning. I didn’t, I was up numerous times - I was exhausted.
I saw specialists, tried tablets, had follow-ups with nurses (all female, all lovely). I measured my fluid input and output - all normal. Yet I couldn’t sneeze, laugh, cough, or even go for a walk without worrying I’d wet myself. Cardio? Forget it.
I tried pads. I tried a pessary device (which was incredibly uncomfortable, and my body kept trying to repel) The urge to go would hit me out of nowhere - 0 to 60 in a second. I’d have to cross my legs and stand still just to stop myself from going right there and then.
At NO POINT did anyone connect this to menopause.
How wild is that?
Now, we know bladder weakness and stress incontinence are symptoms of menopause. It’s real, and it's common - but no one was talking about it when I needed help.
Fast forward to this year…
Enter: femfit ® by JUNOFEM (which is regulated by MHRA UK). A total game changer for me. It’s a smart pelvic floor trainer connected to an app, designed to help you strengthen your pelvic floor properly over a 12-week program.
Here’s how it works:
Stage 1: Lying down
Stage 2: Sitting
Stage 3: Standing All guided by the app, showing you in real time if you’re activating the right muscles. There’s a little bird on the screen (yes, really!) and you have to keep it on the lines as you squeeze. Sounds odd, but it works!
It’s not bulky, not uncomfortable, and it actually makes you feel like you're finally doing something that works.
Do I still leak sometimes? Yes - but it’s so much better. And now I just do a quick check-in every few months to stay on track.
I highly recommend it.
I only ever recommend products I’ve personally used and believe in. If you're struggling with bladder weakness, please don’t just accept it - there is help, and you’re not alone.

PS: We cover stress incontinence in my 6-Week Reset too - it’s part of the bigger conversation around menopause, movement, and reclaiming your body. Ready to take control? Let’s do this together.
