Take Time for You This Festive Season

Relax this Christmas

As the festive season unfolds, I’d like to pause and ask you one simple question: have you thought about yourself lately?

It’s all too easy to get swept up in the whirlwind of Christmas preparations. We dash around like headless chickens, ticking off endless to-do lists: buying and wrapping presents, sending out invitations, ordering and cooking food, keeping relatives comfortable, ensuring the kids are fed, watered, and entertained. The list goes on.

For many of us—particularly midlife women, if I may be so bold—this organisational burden often falls disproportionately on our shoulders. We’re the glue holding it all together, the silent orchestrators of a season everyone else seems to enjoy with ease. And while there’s a special kind of joy in creating magical moments for loved ones, it can also leave us feeling utterly depleted.

So, I’m here to remind you: take time for yourself.

Yes, you. You are not just the cook, the gift-wrapper, or the holiday planner. You are a person who deserves rest, joy, and moments of stillness amidst the chaos. That could mean slipping away for a quiet bath with a book and a glass of something bubbly. Maybe it’s scheduling an hour for a walk in nature or a yoga class. Perhaps it’s simply saying “no” to a task or event that’s stretching you too thin.

Taking care of yourself is not selfish; it’s essential. When you nurture your own well-being, you’re better equipped to pour love and energy into others. Imagine how much brighter the season could feel if you allowed yourself a slice of the joy you work so hard to give everyone else.

So, as you juggle the demands of Christmas, make a promise to yourself. Carve out time to breathe, reflect, and recharge. Let go of perfection; nobody remembers whether the turkey was perfectly golden or slightly overdone. They remember the laughter, the hugs, the warmth of togetherness.

This season, give yourself permission to pause. You deserve it. Let the magic of Christmas be as much about your joy as it is about theirs. After all, you’re worth it.

Take time for you.

Have a lovely festive break, and why not join me in 2025 for a 6-week reset?

Make that your new year's resolution.

Sharon
